Willem Einthoven (Semarang, 21 maggio 1860 – Leida, 29 settembre 1927) è stato un fisiologo olandese, inventore, nel 1903, dell’elettrocardiografia (ECG) ossia della registrazione, mediante l’apparecchio detto elettrocardiografo, dell’attività elettrica del cuore che viene rappresentata sotto forma di un tracciato detto elettrocardiogramma, il cui concetto base è il Triangolo di Einthoven.
